Katrina’s journey in education began a decade ago in her hometown of Avon Lake, when a high school program allowed her to take an Intro to Education course while student teaching in a special education classroom. That experience left a lasting mark on her heart and sparked a lifelong passion for working with students with unique needs. Although her path first led her to Ohio University, where she earned a degree in Journalism, Katrina soon realized her true calling was in education. After a brief career in journalism, she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher, serving across 7 districts and 53 classrooms in the greater Cleveland area. Through this experience, she rediscovered that her heart had always been in special education.
Today, as a Registered Behavior Technician, Katrina is thriving in work that brings her both happiness and fulfillment. She brings energy, compassion, and dedication to supporting students at Trust The Journey Academy, always striving to help them reach their fullest potential.
Outside of the academy, Katrina’s enthusiasm shines just as brightly—she has been a longtime member of the Cleveland Guardians’ pep team, the Cleveland Strikers, where she spends summers tossing T-shirts and dancing on dugouts at Progressive Field. Katrina truly lives La Dolce Vita—the sweet life—both inside and outside the classroom.
